Costs
A common question for any youth sport: What does it cost? Costs vary from student to student, depending mainly on how much each one practices (i.e., how much ammo and how many targets they go through during practices). There are also some fixed costs, like meet fees, during the season. These fixed costs appear in the table, separated by Juniors (middle schoolers) and Seniors (high schoolers), along with estimated costs for targets at practices, and ammunition at meets and practices.
The calculations in the table assume that your student will attend all team practices (shooting two practice rounds at each), all six Divisional Meets, the All Conference Meet, and the State Meet. These calculations also assume a cost of ammunition at $9.00 per box (25 shells each). Note that the cost of ammo can easily be higher these days. |

It's important to understand that the cost of ammunition can also vary quite a bit according to the brand you buy, the type if load you use, and how many practice rounds your student shoots (some do more than two rounds per practice). Opportunities for discounts and rebates on ammunition occur at various times during the season and will be brought to your attention when they occur. The Meet Fees cover the cost of targets at meets. The Annual Participation Fee covers costs for breakfast, lunch, and snacks (for the student and his or her family members) at the team tent. The above calculations do not include the cost of a shotgun.
